David Werner addresses his work at SIUE in the School of Business. Working towards the accreditation of the Business School, the Experiment in Higher Education, and the growth of programs such as the Dental College and Parmacy program at SIUE. Werner attributes the growth of SIUE to the prioritization of its mission statement towards undergraduate education, the addition of university housing, and the expansion of professional degree-granting programs at the undergraduate level.

Gerald J.T. Runkle Oral History This oral history interview with Ellen Nore-Nordhouser is part of a collection of oral histories conducted as part of a research project related to the 50th Anniversary of SIUE between 2005 and 2008.

Runkle discusses the tumultuous years during the War in Vietnam and how the university administration responded to student led protests. The shift from the East St. Louis and Alton campuses to the Edwardsville campus, as well as faculty and community-led initiatives to raise money for land development for the Edwardsville campus. He also considers the roles of changing leadership within the one university system as well as the Edwardsville campus over time, and the growth of the Philosophy department during his tenure at SIUE .

This interview with Soliday discusses his youth growing up in the area and running the family hardware store in Granite City. Soliday closed the store and decided to apply for positions at SIUE working initially as Assistant to the Registrar but eventually managing a large portion of incoming endowments as well as the Arts and Issues Speaker Series.
