	1940 Winchester Model 1912 Shotgun	This shotgun is a Winchester Model 1912 internal-hammer, pump-action gun with an external tube magazine. The United States military used this type of gun in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The owner of this particular gun used it to hunt geese, deer, squirrels, turkeys, rabbits, and other animals. 	1940s Chinese Paper Money	These seven bills of Chinese paper money were issued in the 1930s and 1940s by either the Bank of China or the Central Bank of China. They were brought to Madison County by an American soldier who was stationed in northern China immediately after World War II. These bills were scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. They were brought to class by the soldier's granddaughter, Dara Parks. 	1963 and 1964 Vietnam War Draft Classifications Sent to Eugene Weinmann	These two draft notifications were sent to Bethalto resident Eugene Weinmann during the early years of the Vietnam War draft. The first was sent October 28, 1963 and classified Weinmann in 1-A, making him available for unrestricted military service. The second was sent October 19, 1964, which classified him in 3-A and made him unavailable for military service due to "hardship to dependents." Weinmann also had hearing and sight issues. The local draft board was located on Hillsboro Avenue in Edwardsville. These documents were scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2019. 	1992 Edition of the Civic Memorial High School Yearbook, The Spectator	This is the 1992 edition of The Spectator, the yearbook for Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto. The included page has four yearbook superlatives: Sara Newby and Marc Vaughn for most athletic, Jason Householder and Meghan Lynch for prettiest eyes, Mike Whipkey and April Rives for prettiest hair, and Heather Darter and Scott Herzog for prettiest smile. 	882nd Field Artillery Battalion in World War II, including Bethalto resident Pvt. Edgar Wells	This photograph shows the 882nd Field Artillery Battalion. One of the men in the photo is Bethalto resident Private Edgar Wells. Wells served in the United States army from 1941 to March 1944, when he was honorably discharged. 	Bethalto Resident and World War II Veteran Pvt. Edgar Wells	This photograph shows World War II Veteran and Bethalto resident Private Edgar Wells. Wells served in the United States army from 1941 to March 1944, when he was honorably discharged. He served in Battery "A", 882nd Field Artillery Battalion, 70th Infantry Division. He was a farmer in Bethalto. This photograph was digitized as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. 	Bethalto, Illinois Telephone Directory, 1951	This directory was printed in 1951 for the Madison Telephone Company subscribers on the Bethalto telephone exchange. It lists the address and phone number for individuals and businesses in Bethalto, along with local advertisements. The first page of the book lists the policies and procedures regarding the use of the telephone system. The directory is printed on heavier paper with a card stock cover.
