Sloat was a Major Leage Baseball Pitcher, and played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and Chicago Cubs in the 1948 and 1949 seasons. He previously played for the Maryville Red Sox, a team part of the Southwestern Illinois Inter-City Baseball League.
