The city of Collinsville resides in both Madison County and St. Clair County. In 1800, Ephraim Connor settled in the area that would become Collinsville, making him the first American settler of what would become Madison County.((History of Madison County, Illinois, Illustrated. Collinsville was officially incorporated February 15, 1855,((Flagg, James S., editor,\u00a0Our 150 Years, 1812-1962<\/a><\/em>. (Edwardsville: East 10 Publishing, 1962.), 61.)) and by 1880 the population of Collinsville reached 2,887 inhabitants.((Statistics of the Population of the United States at the Tenth Census<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(Washington: Government Printing Office, 1883), 139.)) Collinsville is home to the world\u2019s largest ketchup bottle and is the world\u2019s horseradish capital.
