These artifacts were brought by students to be scanned as part of a three-day lesson offered by Madison Historical on February 5, 6, and 13, 2020 at Liberty Middle School in Edwardsville. The lesson was given five class periods of students in an American history class taught by Rachel Harris.

	Diamond Cross Necklace	This necklace was a gift for Easter from Julianne Hendricks Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother to her mother in 2005. The necklace is made of white gold. The necklace is very worn, so much so that the top of the cross is about to fall apart. 	Crescent Roll Recipe	This is a Christmas party recipe for moon shaped dinner rolls. It is from 2003 and was often used for special occasions such as birthdays by the Leaser family. 	"One Step Closer" The 2002 Civic Memorial High School Yearbook	This is a 2002 Civic Memorial High School Yearbook has a hard cover and is purple and gold with eagle prints on the front cover. It contains 208 pages and was created in 2002. The spine reads 'Civic Memorial High Schools Spectator Vol. 51' in gold shiny letters. This document was sold for $34 and the pictures were done by Delmar Studios of Edwardsville, Illinois. This book belonged to Cherise McArthur. 	2007 Edwardsville High Yearbook	This is Matthew Spohr's 2007 Sophomore yearbook from Edwardsville Hish School. On the cover, it says, "1000 Tales" alongside the image of a tiger tail on the cover. Inside, the books are memories from his high school years. This book was digitized as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. 	May 21, 2000 issue of The Telegraph, with "Verdict Rocks Shell" Headline	This May 21, 2000 issue of The Telegraph includes the headline article of Edwardsville-Shell Oil Co. which wasn't the process of a lawsuit with one of their employees, a former roofing worker who developed mesotheleoma, an asbestos related cancer while working at the Wood River refinery. The worker sued Shell for $34.1 million according to the article. 	Swiss Parfait Recipe from the Gont Family	This is a recipe card for a Swiss Parfait, an oat-based dessert served in the Cook family of Madison County during the holidays for two decades. This recipe was written by Marlene Gont(sic) in Downers Grove, IL in 2000. Transcription: Swiss Parfait. 2 cups uncooked oats, 32oz. Low-fat vanilla yogurt, 16oz can crushed pineapple juice, 4 tablespoons sliced almonds(optional). Combine all and refrigerate overnight, or up to 1 week. Serve chilled and enjoy. 	1999 Traditional Benin Mask	This is a mask made of terracotta that is made to look like a man with head wear and markings. It was made in 1999 by the Urabic people of Benin. 	1999 Collins Outlaw Family Cookbook	This cookbook was made for the 23rd Collins Family Reunion which took place in 1999. The book has and has been passed down from generation to generation. Katy was the one who said we should make a coookbook for our family. It has been passed down ever since. 	1998 Jack's 66 Service Station Photograph	This photo was taken in 1998 at Jack's 66 Service Station in Edwardsville. This is a picture of Sadie Lippoldt's mom, Michelle, and her cousin, Chelsey. Her grandpa was the original owner of Jack's 66 Service Station, and they were celebrating a Route 66 event. 	East Alton Wood River High Senior Ring	This item is an East Alton-Wood River High School class ring from May 1997. It is gold and has a cross country runner on one side with the year, 1997 and on the other side are buildings with the name Shaun along with East Alton-Wood River High. There is a gem on the top of the ring and on the inside it has Shaun L. Manley engraved.
