This is a letter written to E.W. Mudge by one of his younger brothers. In it, he specifies he is eight years old and asks about Mudge's boat journey to New Orleans.

Georgy would like to see you very much did you have much fun on the boat going to new Orleans and what boat did you go on did you stop at ?? tell mother reddy and myself are running hom to rite and thare are a good eny little ???? that is reading in the ?? treaddor one of them it ?? ?? can read as one of the little ?? can
