Description

This oral history interview with Ellen Nore-Nordhouser is part of a collection of oral histories conducted as part of a research project related to the 50th Anniversary of SIUE between 2005 and 2008.

Runkle discusses the tumultuous years during the War in Vietnam and how the university administration responded to student led protests. The shift from the East St. Louis and Alton campuses to the Edwardsville campus, as well as faculty and community-led initiatives to raise money for land development for the Edwardsville campus. He also considers the roles of changing leadership within the one university system as well as the Edwardsville campus over time, and the growth of the Philosophy department during his tenure at SIUE .
