	1919 Halfpenny from the UK	This is a Halfpenny from 1919 when the UK controlled India made from bronze, stating "George the Fifth, by the grace of god King of all Britain, Defennder of the Faith, Emperor of India, in Latin." By long-standing traditions, the legends of ruling British monarchs are rendered in Latin. On the front is George V's bare face and on the back is the figure of Britannia seated facing right on a rock wearing a helmet and flowing robes and she holds a trident with a shield which bears the combined crosses of the Union Flag. This coin was photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. It was brought to class by Varsha Venigalla. The coin was given the student's mother by their grandmother when their mother came to America.	1919	March 4, 2020
	The Rational Spelling Book, 1898, owned by Alton Resident Viola Thompson	This 1898 spelling book, "The Rational Spelling Book, Part II" was owned by Alton resident Viola Thompson, whose name is handwritten on the book's front pastedown. The book is intended for fourth grade students and older and may have been used in an Alton classroom. The book includes numerous words for spelling practice and spelling rules from the late 19th century. This book was scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2019. It was brought to class by Hana Harlan.	1898	May 21, 2019
	Madison County 1873 Microfilm Worden Residences and Bird Eye View	The document is a part of a book called Madison County 1873 Microfilm by Brink, McCormick. It reads under the top image, "Residence and Premises of John C. Worden", the founder of the new city. In the middle of the document is a bird's eye view of Worden. The caption says "Birds-eye view from the South-east of a portion of the new city of Worden, Founded 1870 Madison Co, Illinois." At the bottom of the document is another image it reads at the bottom "View of the first depot of the Toledo Wabash and western R.R at Worden erected 1870 John C Worden station Agent. Postmaster General Storekeeper." This document was photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. 	1882 History of Madison County, Illinois. Illustrated.	This county history was published in Edwardsville in 1882, seventy years after the establishment of Madison County in 1812. 	1999 Original Print of the Wood River Refinery, Given to JoAnn Laird Upon Her Retirement	This limited edition print of the Wood River Refinery was drawn by St. Louis artist John Pils in 1999. The Shell refinery gave the print to JoAnn Laird upon her retirement from the refinery in 2000. This print is 262 of the 2000 total prints created. This print was scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2019. It was brought to class by Gavin Witsken.	1999	May 21, 2019
	1963 and 1964 Vietnam War Draft Classifications Sent to Eugene Weinmann	These two draft notifications were sent to Bethalto resident Eugene Weinmann during the early years of the Vietnam War draft. The first was sent October 28, 1963 and classified Weinmann in 1-A, making him available for unrestricted military service. The second was sent October 19, 1964, which classified him in 3-A and made him unavailable for military service due to "hardship to dependents." Weinmann also had hearing and sight issues. The local draft board was located on Hillsboro Avenue in Edwardsville. These documents were scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2019. 	2019 Navy and Marine Corps Commandment Medal to Nicholas Pavlinek	This is a medal was awarded to Senior Chief Fire Controlman (Surface Warfare) Nicholas Pavlinek of the United States Navy for meritorious service while serving as Combat Systems Department Leading Chief Petty Officer, USS Sioux City Blue Crew, from August 2016, to May of 2019. Senior Chief Nicholas Pavlinek led nineteen sailors, including mine warfare DET 23, through crew move-abroad, commissioning, and initial A/T certification. Pavlinek Filled a critical role as the only enlisted tactical action officer during combat systems shipboard qualification trials, qualifying four department heads as Tactical Action Officer (TAO), resulting in eight live-fire events totallling 324 57mm and 24 CHAFF expended rounds. 	1969-1975 Italian Lira	These are Italian Liras ranging in date of mint from 1969 and 1975. They were owned by the Great-great-grandfather of Kira Reed of Edwardsville, Illinois, he was born and raised in Bari, Italy until he married and moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1870. There in Oregon, Reed's Great-great-grandfather had three sons and two daughters. When all five of their children grew to adulthood, they moved to Seattle, Washington. Three years after their children had moved out Kira Reed's great-great-grandparents moved back to Bari, Italy. While living in Seattle Kira's great-grandpa had three sons, Scott, Steven and Logan. Kira's great-great-grandfather passed away, he sent my great-grandpa these Italian dollar bills as a keepsake. The money was then passed onto Kira's Great-grandmother and subsequently her son, Steven, who passed it onto his daughter Joleene. Joleene then passed the money onto her daughter Kirra Reed. This artifact was digitized as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. It was brought to class by Kirra Reed.	1969-1975	March 4, 2020
	1944 World War II Letter Describing Rifle Pin Qualifications	This artifact is a copy of a genuine letter from a U.S. soldier to his wife dated 1944-3-26. The letter describes the qualifications for a rifle pin, written by Robert Thompson while he was stationed in Germany during World War II. The two guns crossing at the top of the letter represent a rifle pin. This letter was photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. 	1964 Application for Edwardsville Resident Kenneth Linkeman to Receive State Farmer Degree from the Illinois Assocation of the Future Farmers of America	Edwardsville resident Kenneth Linkeman submitted this application in 1964 to receive a State Farmer Degree from the Illinois Association of the Future Farmers of America. At the time of the application, Linkeman was a 17-year-old senior at Edwardsville High School who rented 40 acres of farm land. Prior to the application, he had cultivated corn, soybeans, and wheat, and had attempted to raise pigs though was unsuccessful. Linkeman was the president of the Edwardsville FFA chapter, which had 44 members. The application includes various details about Linkeman's farm, the Edwardsville FFA chapter, and his high school transcript. This application was scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2019.
