At the time the motel was owned and operated by Wally and Ruth Nagel, who purchased the motel in 1958 before the construction of I-70 through Highland. The home on the left is a frame bungalow located at 522 Lincoln Avenue in East Alton, Illinois. Both houses were built in the 1940s as part of a housing tract for the growing number of employees of Winchester/Olin in East Alton. Both homes have been renovated to a more contemporary style. 1945 Church of the Redeemer Congregational Church in Alton This photograph was taken in November 1945 as part of the commemoration of the Church of the Redeemer’s 75th anniversary. The church was first built in 1870 and was expanded in 1902. The building still stands at the intersection of Sixth and Henry Streets (600 Henry Street) in Alton, Illinois.
