Floor Plan for the New Lincoln School This floor plan was drawn by the Alton architecture firm L. Pfeiffenberger & Son for the building of a new Lincoln School for African American children in Edwardsville. The school building opened in 1912. Today, the building is home to the Mannie Jackson Center for the Humanities. Circa 1911 October 13, 2016
New Lincoln School Building This photograph shows the second Lincoln School building, which was constructed in 1911. The Lincoln School was a public school for African Americans in Edwardsville. The school closed in 1950 due to the desegregation of the Edwardsville school system, and was renovated in 1952 as a Kindergarten through 6th grade school. The school closed permanently in 1972.
