11 Future Farmers of America Pin Awards Given to Edwardsville Resident Kenneth Linkeman in the early 1960s | These 11 Future Farmers of America pins were awarded to Edwardsville resident Kenneth Linkeman, who was the president of the Edwardsville chapter of the Illinois FFA. There is one pin for public speaking, one for soybeans, one for Chapter Star Farmer, three for small grains, and five that just have the FFA emblem. These pins were scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2019. They were brought to class by Kenneth Linkeman's grandson, Keaton Linkeman. |

History of Madison County Jail, 1814 - 1906, by Evelyn Bowles | This pamphlet about the history of the Madison County Jail from 1814 to 1906 was written by Evelyn Bowles, then the chief deputy clerk of the Madison County Board of Supervisors. Bowles first presented the pamphlet at the March 1960 meeting of the Land O'Goshen Historical Society. The Edwardsville Intelligencer then published the pamphlet serially in seven parts, starting on March 15, 1960 and concluding on March 23, 1960. Bowles was later elected as Madison County Clerk in 1974 and served as an Illinois state senator representing the 56th Senate District from 1994 to 2002. | March 1960 | February 12, 2018 | |
Cross Necklace from 1960 | Lexi Raker's Great Grandmother gave her a very valuable cross necklace soon before she passed away. It's a small, silver cross necklace with the top hook reading: "Amen." The necklace was made circa 1960 in Rome. The necklace is very thin so it is very fragile. This necklace was photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. It was brought to class by Lexi Rakers. |
