Wells served in the United States army from 1941 to March 1944, when he was honorably discharged. His wife's name is unknown. He was a farmer in Bethalto. 	Two Soldiers in an abandoned World War II Hanger in West Germany in the 1960s	This photograph shows two soldiers standing in front of a 2HALF ton gas tanker in an abandoned World War II Hanger in West Germany. One of the men is likely Bethalto resident Everett Jett, who was stationed in West Germany from January 1964 to June 1966. Jett served in the 3-703rd Maintenance Battalion, in which he transported gas to other vehicles using this tanker. Jett later served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. When he retunred home to Bethalto, he became a truck driver. This photograph was digitized as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. 	Truck Driven by Sakasitz in West Germany in the 1960s	This photograph shows a truck driven by a Sakasitz, a soldier serving in the 3-703rd Maintenance Battalion. Also in the Battalion was y Bethalto resident Everett Jett, who was stationed West Germany from January 1964 to June 1966. Jett transported gas to other vehicles using a gas tanker. Jett later served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. When he retunred home to Bethalto, he became a truck driver. 	The Florini Family Opening a Grocery Store in Bethalto in 1937	This photoraph shows Julio Florini, his wife Delfina Florini, and their son Geno Florini opening a grocery store in Bethalto on Spencer Street and near Route 140 in 1937. In 1942, the Florini's converted the location to a tavern named Geno's 140 Club. The restaurant is still open today. 	Piece of the Berlin Wall Belonging to Bethalto Resident Shelly Niemeier	This small fragment of the Berlin Wall was obtained by Bethalto resident Shelly Niemeier around when the wall was destroyed in November and December 1989. The wall famously divided Berlin during the Cold War, and its collapse symbolized the end of the Cold War. This piece of the Berlin Wall was photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. 	North China Pictorial Book given to Americans Stationed in China Following World War II	This book, titled "North China Pictorial," was given to each member of the U.S. army who was stationed in China immediately following World War II. It was paid for by Special Services Funds of the 111 Amphibious Corps. The book highlights the people and culture of China for an American audience. This book was brought to Madison County by an American soldier who was stationed in northern China immediately after World War II. Select pages of this book were photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018.
