Shannan Mason

Shannan Mason studies the intersection of science and capitalism, through an examination of the Atlantic horticultural exchange throughout the 18th century, in particular examining the sale of natural specimen by the Philadelphia naturalist, John Bartram. She is a Ph.D. student in the co-operative doctoral program between SIUC and SIUE, and received her Masters in Historical Studies and a certification in Museum Studies in 2014 from SIUE.
