Fairmont City is a village in both St. Clair and Madison counties. Incorporated between 1910 and 1920, by 1920 the village of Fairmont city had a population of 1,056.1 The Hispanic population doubled between 1990 and 2000, growing from 27.9% in 1990 to 55.3% in 2000.2 As of the 2010 census, the village of Fairmont City has 2,635 residents, with 71.4%, or 1,882, Hispanic people.3
