	North China Pictorial Book given to Americans Stationed in China Following World War II	This book, titled "North China Pictorial," was given to each member of the U.S. army who was stationed in China immediately following World War II. It was paid for by Special Services Funds of the 111 Amphibious Corps. The book highlights the people and culture of China for an American audience. This book was brought to Madison County by an American soldier who was stationed in northern China immediately after World War II. Select pages of this book were photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. 	Piece of the Berlin Wall Belonging to Bethalto Resident Shelly Niemeier	This small fragment of the Berlin Wall was obtained by Bethalto resident Shelly Niemeier around when the wall was destroyed in November and December 1989. The wall famously divided Berlin during the Cold War, and its collapse symbolized the end of the Cold War. This piece of the Berlin Wall was photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. 	Rawlings Baseball From Vietnam Veteran David Williams	This baseball belongs to David Williams, a resident of Bethalto and baseball player. Williams is a veteran of the Vietnam War who played baseball while serving in Vietnam. He obtained this particular baseball after returning from Vietnam. 	Sewing Kit Used in World War II	This sewing kit was used by Kenny Flowers in World War II in 1918. Sewing kits were used in the war to mend uniforms and dress wounds. This kit includes buttons, needles, safety pins, scissors, and thread. This sewing kit was photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. 	Truck Driven by Sakasitz in West Germany in the 1960s	This photograph shows a truck driven by a Sakasitz, a soldier serving in the 3-703rd Maintenance Battalion. Also in the Battalion was y Bethalto resident Everett Jett, who was stationed West Germany from January 1964 to June 1966. Jett transported gas to other vehicles using a gas tanker. Jett later served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. When he retunred home to Bethalto, he became a truck driver. This photograph was digitized as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. It was brought to class by Jett's grandon, Colton Hyman. 	Two Soldiers in an abandoned World War II Hanger in West Germany in the 1960s	This photograph shows two soldiers standing in front of a 2HALF ton gas tanker in an abandoned World War II Hanger in West Germany. One of the men is likely Bethalto resident Everett Jett, who was stationed in West Germany from January 1964 to June 1966. Jett served in the 3-703rd Maintenance Battalion, in which he transported gas to other vehicles using this tanker. Jett later served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. When he retunred home to Bethalto, he became a truck driver. This photograph was digitized as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. 	Volume 6 of Funk & Wagnalls Standard Reference Encyclopedia from 1959	This volume of the Funk & Wagnalls Standard Reference Encyclopedia was publisehd in 1959. The entry on Chemistry was photographed. Though the encyclopedia covers words from "Cell" to "Colo," it does not contain an entry on the Cold War. 	War Rations Book from World War II	This World War II war rations book was issued to Mary Whipple of Alton in 1943. It contains numerous stamps used to purchase goods rationed during the war. The stamps are decorated with artillery, aircraft carriers, tanks, and airplanes. Some of the stamps were already used.
