1936 Indian Head (Buffalo) Nickel and Half Dollar Coin | This is coinage produced by the United States, a Nickel and Half-Dollar. The smaller coin is a Buffalo Nickel that is in fair condition and was minted in 1936. The larger one is a silver half dollar in worn condition that was also minted 1936. These coins were photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. They were brought to class by Caden Sexton. |

Soviet Ruble | This is a Soviet Ruble, an example of Soviet currency. It is mulicolored, containing orange, red, and teal. It is in the amount of a single (1) ruble of the USSR. The production of the Soviet Rubles was the responsibility of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise or Goznak. War Ration Book from Moro, IL, for years 1943-4 | This is a war ration book that was used in Moro, IL. On the front is an image of a woman farming alongside text that reads, "Food Will Win The War." Additional text is located along the bottom of the pamphelt that says, "Compliments of Burrus Quality Hybrids. There are ration stamps inside and it is bound by a red string and on the back is a calendar with dates. Madison County 1873 Microfilm Worden Residences and Bird Eye View | The document is a part of a book called Madison County 1873 Microfilm by Brink, McCormick. It reads under the top image, "Residence and Premises of John C. Worden", the founder of the new city. In the middle of the document is a bird's eye view of Worden. The caption says "Birds-eye view from the South-east of a portion of the new city of Worden, Founded 1870 Madison Co, Illinois." At the bottom of the document is another image it reads at the bottom "View of the first depot of the Toledo Wabash and western R.R at Worden erected 1870 John C Worden station Agent. 1944 World War II Letter Describing Rifle Pin Qualifications | This artifact is a copy of a genuine letter from a U.S. soldier to his wife dated 1944-3-26. The letter describes the qualifications for a rifle pin, written by Robert Thompson while he was stationed in Germany during World War II. The two guns crossing at the top of the letter represent a rifle pin. This letter was photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020.
