Description

This is a Standard Oil Company envelope celebrating the 50-year anniversary (1907-1957). The envelope reads, "Fifty Years of Progress" and "Friday, Saturday, Sunday September 20, 21, 22, 1957." The special stationary is emblematic of the importance of the celebration to Standard Oil in Wood River. An illustration of Lewis and Clark is displayed along the left side of envelope. Wood River is contentiously one of the locations of Camp DuBois, Lewis and Clark's encampment before setting out on the "Corp of Discovery" in 1803.
