	1940 Winchester Model 1912 Shotgun	This shotgun is a Winchester Model 1912 internal-hammer, pump-action gun with an external tube magazine. The United States military used this type of gun in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The owner of this particular gun used it to hunt geese, deer, squirrels, turkeys, rabbits, and other animals. 	1998 Jack's 66 Service Station Photograph	This photo was taken in 1998 at Jack's 66 Service Station in Edwardsville. This is a picture of Sadie Lippoldt's mom, Michelle, and her cousin, Chelsey. Her grandpa was the original owner of Jack's 66 Service Station, and they were celebrating a Route 66 event. 	The Florini Family Opening a Grocery Store in Bethalto in 1937	This photoraph shows Julio Florini, his wife Delfina Florini, and their son Geno Florini opening a grocery store in Bethalto on Spencer Street and near Route 140 in 1937. In 1942, the Florini's converted the location to a tavern named Geno's 140 Club. The restaurant is still open today. 	Chris Federmann's 2008 Silver Star	The Silver Star is the 3rd highest military honor. Chris Federmann was awarded the Silver Star in July of 2008. He was awarded the Silver Star because of his actions in Operation Iraqi Freedom. At the same time there had only been 500 Silver Stars awarded in history. Chris Federmann's actions prevented Anti-Iraqi forces from overwhelming friendly positions. His award speech states, "Chris L. Federmann was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuois gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as detachment weapons sergeant." 	Swiss Parfait Recipe from the Gont Family	This is a recipe card for a Swiss Parfait, an oat-based dessert served in the Cook family of Madison County during the holidays for two decades. This recipe was written by Marlene Gont(sic) in Downers Grove, IL in 2000. Transcription: Swiss Parfait. 2 cups uncooked oats, 32oz. Low-fat vanilla yogurt, 16oz can crushed pineapple juice, 4 tablespoons sliced almonds(optional). Combine all and refrigerate overnight, or up to 1 week. Serve chilled and enjoy. 	Circa 1978 Old Spice Shaving Kit	This shaving kit was manufactured by the Shulton Company circa 1978, with the Old Spice brand name. The company branded their products with colonial sailing ships, this kit in particular is marked with the ship Recovery. The brush was made with boar bristle. 	11 Future Farmers of America Pin Awards Given to Edwardsville Resident Kenneth Linkeman in the early 1960s	These 11 Future Farmers of America pins were awarded to Edwardsville resident Kenneth Linkeman, who was the president of the Edwardsville chapter of the Illinois FFA. There is one pin for public speaking, one for soybeans, one for Chapter Star Farmer, three for small grains, and five that just have the FFA emblem. These pins were scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2019. They were brought to class by Kenneth Linkeman's grandson, Keaton Linkeman. 	Burnett Company Glass Medicine Bottle	This glass bottle was made by the Joseph Burnett Company, a flavor extract company based in Boston. Listed on the bottle is "cocoaine," which was likely the company's "Cocoaine for the Hair" product. 	1919 Halfpenny from the UK	This is a Halfpenny from 1919 when the UK controlled India made from bronze, stating "George the Fifth, by the grace of god King of all Britain, Defennder of the Faith, Emperor of India, in Latin." By long-standing traditions, the legends of ruling British monarchs are rendered in Latin. On the front is George V's bare face and on the back is the figure of Britannia seated facing right on a rock wearing a helmet and flowing robes and she holds a trident with a shield which bears the combined crosses of the Union Flag. This coin was photographed as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. It was brought to class by Varsha Venigalla. The coin was given the student's mother by their grandmother when their mother came to America.	1919	March 4, 2020
	The Rational Spelling Book, 1898, owned by Alton Resident Viola Thompson	This 1898 spelling book, "The Rational Spelling Book, Part II" was owned by Alton resident Viola Thompson, whose name is handwritten on the book's front pastedown. The book is intended for fourth grade students and older and may have been used in an Alton classroom. The book includes numerous words for spelling practice and spelling rules from the late 19th century.
