1940s Apple Cranberry Salad | This is a recipe that has been in Emma Hosto's family for approximately 8 decades and is made for special occasions and holidays by the family. The recipe states to make the base add 1 bag of romaine lettuce, 1 cup of shredded swiss cheese, 1 medium apple, 1/4cup dried cranberries, and 1/2 cup chopped cashews. The dressing calls for 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup red wine vinegar, 2T lemon juice, 1T diced onions, and 1/2 tsp. salt. Mix all the dressing ingredients together, lastly add 2/3 cup veg. oil and pour over the base. 2019 Brand Mikro | This is an example of the Mikro clothing brand which was created in March of 2019 by several students at Liberty Middle School. Circa 1900 Iron Cast Nutcracker | This iron dog was manufactured by the Harper Supply Company in Chicago, Illinois. In the 1940s, its mould was destroyed for brass. Its tail is used to open the dog's mouth for use as a nutcracker. This object was digitized as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. 1999 Collins Outlaw Family Cookbook | This cookbook was made for the 23rd Collins Family Reunion which took place in 1999. The book has and has been passed down from generation to generation. Katy was the one who said we should make a coookbook for our family. It has been passed down ever since. 1973 Raggedy Ann Ornament | This object is a Raggedy Ann ornament. Raggedy Ann is a character in a series of children's books from 1880-1938. This ornament is 47 years old and was a gift to Erin Frank's Grandmother by a neighbor, Betty Matesam, to be gifted to Kendall Frank when she was born. The Frank family hangs the ornament on their Christmas tree every year. This object was digitized as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Liberty Middle School in spring 2020. Chris Federmann's 2008 Silver Star | The Silver Star is the 3rd highest military honor. Chris Federmann was awarded the Silver Star in July of 2008. He was awarded the Silver Star because of his actions in Operation Iraqi Freedom. At the same time there had only been 500 Silver Stars awarded in history. Chris Federmann's actions prevented Anti-Iraqi forces from overwhelming friendly positions. His award speech states, "Chris L. Federmann was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuois gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as detachment weapons sergeant." Arrowhead | This arrowhead was found by Dorothy Wood in 1982 in Edgar County, Illinois. The arrowhead was passed down to Erin DeVries, Dorothy's Granddaughter, who now lives in Edwardsville, Illinois. The arrowhead is handcrafted from rock.
