1958 Photograph of Chinatown Lake now known as Maryville Fishing Club Lake	This is a color photograph taken in June of 1958 of the Pond that runs alongside Parkview Street in Maryville, Illinois. The pond is now known as the "Maryville Fishing Club Lake" inside Drost Park. It originally ran alongside the St. Louis Troy and Eastern Railroad line and Parkview Street known as Chinatown road at the turn of the century. The Pond is located across the street from Donk Company housing known as "Chinatown" which consisted of 41 housing lots.	1958	November 13, 2019
Business Card for the Village Motel in Highland, Illinois	This business card for the Village Motel emphasizes the motel's air conditioning and TV service. The motel was located just off US Highway 40 slightly northeast of Highland, Illinois. At the time the motel was owned and operated by Wally and Ruth Nagel, who purchased the motel in 1958 before the construction of I-70 through Highland. 1958 Alton Evening Telegraph Clipping of Five Generations of the Thorpe Family	This Alton Evening Telegraph Clipping from April 14, 1958 features the 15 ancestors of Steven Thorpe and Susan Denise Thorpe who attended Steven's christening at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Edwardsville on Sunday, April 13, 1958. Also included is the original photograph printed in the Telegraph. In the front row of the photograph are Stephen and Susan's parents, Roblee and Charlene Thorpe of Marine. Also in the photo are Roblee's parents: Orville Thorpe and Bernice Bauer Thorpe of Poag, Edwardsville, Orville's parents Charles Thorpe and Mary Gloss Thorpe of Edwardsville, and Bernice's parents Fred Bauer and Mary Hlad Bauer of Edwardsville. On Charlene's side are her parents: Walter and Edith Ringering of Poag, Edwardsville, Walter's parents Barney H. Ringering and Margaret Klenke Ringering of Edwardsville, Margaret's mother Lena Klenke of Edwardsville, Edith's parents Emil and Clara Hessel of Marine, and Clara's parents John O'Neil and Emma Levicy Grange O'Neil of South Roxana. This clipping was scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2019. It was brought to class by Susan's grandaughter, Kimberly Seeley. 1958 Sports Review Magazine from Mount Morris, Illlinois	This issue of Sports Review Magazing was Published in Mount Morris, Illinois, in 1958. The issue's special topic is on baseball. On the cover is a picture of Lew Burdette, a Milwaukee pitcher, along with a caption that reads, "Lew Burdette; the pitcher who made Milwaukee famous."The magazine has some mild cosmetic defects and wrinkles on the cover and interior pages. Bethalto resident Kelly Cato is standing in the third row from the bottom and third from the left. Cato graduated from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto and went on to serve in Okinawa on the missle site where he monitored the East China Sea during the Cold War. This photograph was scanned as part of a Madison Historical class visit to Civic Memorial High School in spring 2018. The entry on Chemistry was photographed. Though the encyclopedia covers words from "Cell" to "Colo," it does not contain an entry on the Cold War.
